This collection is inspired by the parts of Emily Dickinson’s life that were seen as more unconventional for the time period. The catalyst for this thesis were two poems by Emily Dickinson- “Split the Lark” and “There’s a certain Slant of Light”. Focusing on Emily’s relationship with her best friend Sue, her more “reclusive” nature, and the struggle to decide if she wanted to publish her poetry her whole life.
