Seeing Double but Only One is Perceived as Trouble
My collection is inspired by Ladybugs and Asian Lady Beetles.Ladybugs are soft and graceful and seen as good luck, while the similar looking Asain Lady Beetles have been deemed as more toxic and a nuisance. I brought this concept into my design through the use of juxtaposition. Combining the softer and harsher colors while also using curvilinear seams as well as some more “traditionally feminine elements” mixing with more “edgy” aspects.
A Voguish Night at the Automat
My garment was inspired by the NYC automats of the '30s and '40s. My design is a modern take on the geometric nature of automats and pulling style details from the people who frequented them in those times.
